Deadly Storm Spawns Twisters Floods And Devastation

Tornadoes Ravage Towns as Debby Drenches Southeast

Deadly Storm Spawns Twisters, Floods, and Devastation

Residents Left Homeless, Communities in Chaos

Tornadoes spawned by Tropical Storm Debby have wreaked havoc across the Southeast, leveling homes, damaging a school, and tragically claiming the life of one person early Thursday morning. The tropical system has brought widespread flooding and swollen rivers, leaving residents in its path reeling from the devastation.

Palm Blvd in Lucana, North Carolina, was one of the hardest-hit areas. Robert Chesnut's home was flooded by the torrential rains, forcing him to wade through chest-high water to check on his water pump. In the aftermath, he found his belongings scattered and his home uninhabitable.

"It's like a bomb went off," Chesnut said. "I've lost everything."

The storm's impact extended far beyond individual homes. A local school in the region suffered extensive damage, forcing hundreds of students to miss classes. Emergency responders struggled to reach isolated areas as flooding cut off roads and bridges.

The National Weather Service has issued numerous tornado warnings as Debby continues to move through the region. Residents are urged to seek shelter and avoid unnecessary travel.
